Dr. Victoria O. Chimezie is an Associate Professor in the Department of Animal Production, Faculty of Agriculture University of Ilorin. She joined the services of the University on the 16th of June, 2008 as an Assistant Lecturer. Dr. Chimezie has served as a member of several committees in the University.

Dr. Chimezie’s core research focus is in classical Animal breeding and Genetics. Her doctoral studies and subsequent research have centered on animal improvement through selection using the Japanese quail as a research model. Her research uses diverse poultry as animal research models of quantitative trait inheritance in studies of trait determination and improvement. her work primarily focuses on animal genetics, breeding, and production systems, with a particular interest in indigenous poultry and small livestock in sub-Saharan Africa.

Her interdisciplinary approach combines molecular genetics, quantitative breeding techniques, and phenotypic assessments to enhance productivity and sustainability in local animal farming systems. She is widely recognized for her contributions to improving the performance traits of Nigerian indigenous chickens and Japanese quail. Dr. Chimezie is a registered Animal Scientist and is a member of several learned professional bodies.  She has published in reputable National and international journals, and attended several academic/professional conferences.
