Professor Fayeye is an animal geneticist and breeder in the Department of Animal Production, University of Ilorin. He is a registered member of the Genetics Society of Nigeria, with over 120 publications in local, national and internationally-rated journals and books. He was a member of the executives of the Genetics Society of Nigeria (2012-2021) and a member of NIAS National Committees on Micro-Livestock (2011-2012. Professor Fayeye is a member of the National Technical Committee on Livestock Naming, Registration and Release (under the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology (2013-Date). His passion for the conservation and improvement of animal genetic resources led him to form the Muturu Cattle Research Network in 2023 as a multi-institutional and multinational research and livestock development network with membership in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Benin Republics and the Diaspora. He is currently a collaborating scientist for multi-locational trial of IAR&T improved indigenous meat-type chicken.
